In the wake of Capsoul's collapse, songwriter Norman Whiteside was left to fend for himself in a much bleaker Columbus, Ohio. After a few misfires and false alarms, he finally found a home in (Prix artist) Joe King's band Wee. Some personal problems sidelined Joe shortly thereafter, and Wee became the Norman Whiteside project. "Try Me" epitomizes Norman's vision: glimmering midtempo grooves that wink at disco sound without shirking its soulful ambition. "Teach Me How" slows it down to a stepper's tempo. A beautiful moment in Columbus soul history.
