Psychedelic, hard-Kraut on an English independent label? How Orange Peel ended up on Reflection is anyone’s guess, but their 1970 debut single bridges the gap between British electric blues and The Grimm Brothers. Led by vocalist Peter Bischoff, with Leslie Link on guitar, Heini Mohn on bass, Ralph Wilthei on organ, and Curt Cress on drums, Orange Peel recorded only six songs during their brief three year run. “Searching for a Place to Hide” straddles the line between crooning psych and uptempo boogie rock, while “I Got No Time” exerts a thumping prog energy with a roaring Hammond. Hendrix worship was a real thing.
