Notes About the Release
Judy Brackin wanted to record sad songs after her idol, Tammy Wynette; but Judy’s Arkansas label, Rimrock, wanted a Jeannie C Riley. Rimrock had Judy rerecord “Mama’s Baby Again” to sound more like “Harper Valley P.T.A”, which had topped the charts the previous year. You can hear Judy’s original vision in “A Summer Friend”.

Rimrock poured their resources into Judy, believing they had found the next big thing in country. They took her around the south to play shows and see Porter Wagoner. He told her to come back when she was older, but she’d had enough. The sixteen-year-old applied to college in hopes of normalcy.
