At the urging of one his employee's, he brought an unknown songwriter named Melvin Jennel into the studio and cut the soulful political ballad "People, Open Your Eyes And See." Having no b-side for the song, Lenaburg assembled a one shot team of crack local musicians including Liggins, Blazers affiliate Clarence Townes, and on second sax Sam James. The aftermath was "Function Underground," a mind melting fusion of hard rock and psychedelic funk. We The People's only single was released on yet another one-time Lenaburg imprint.
