Marolda Recording Studio, Songgram's pre-curser, had flung open its doors in 1970, shortly after Marolda's failed stint studying broadcasting at Mercer County Community College. A year later, Tom married his high school sweetheart Marie, shackling himself to an unsatisfying suburban existence. the Maroldas derived primary incomes from selling Hammond Organs and giving guitar lessons. With Sonngram's untouched calendar staring him down, Marolda began tinkering with his own material over the course of 1973 for what became his debut LP, Me- Out For The First Time. Aside from a handful of drum tracks and sax solos, Marolda played every instrument on the album, and did likewise on his next LP.
