The Shackleford Singers

The Shackleford Singers, originally assembled by gospel stalwart Robert Shackleford Sr., joined with an instrumental assemblage made up of his hipper sons Aaron, Alan, Robert Jr., George, and Darius, plus classmate Tyrone Thurman. From their home base in Detroit, the Shacklefords toured the Midwest and the South with an eclectic act that showcased not just traditional gospel, but funk, soul, and even country. “God Is All Over Me” is from their only release, a 45 on the not-so-curiously-named R.S. label.
