The Four Mints

The Four Mints were in fact five, as of their inception in the halls of East High, with Bobby Shank, Louis Dotley, James spencer, and Herschel Davis coming together under leader James Brown. In 1965, minor R&B chart-toucher Ben "Pete" Caldwell (late of The Lyrics and The Falcons) saw promise and helped organize the Four Mints behind his caramel-coated falsetto. A single for the Holiday label would be their first brush with Bill Moss, a relationship that reignited in 1971 to span six singles bearing Capsoul and Loren labels, plus the Gently Down Your Stream LP.
