Sounds Of Soul

A soulful, modern gospel reading of the Impressions’ “People Get Ready,” “Gospel Train” is the first of two Sounds Of Soul singles for the Bounty label. Lead by A. J. Thomas, the Sounds consisted of Ben Davis, Leonard Foster, John Studemire, Roosevelt Ezell, and Milton Bridges, each of whom was in his forties or fifties when the group was formed. Bridges would leave before Sounds Of Soul’s 1984 follow-up, to found fellow Bounty act the Modernairs Gospel Singers with future Corinthian Singer Thomas Streeter.
