L. Hollis & the Mackadoos

The L. Hollis & the Mackadoos record falls somewhere in between the Manhattans and the Grand Prix's, though an exact session date could not be located. A schoolmate of McCoy's, Lonny Hollis led a teen group comprised of two tenors, a baritone sax, and drummer Roy Brooks, who would later play with Horace Silver. "Bui Bui" is pure car chase, out of control and swerving amidst the traffic of too many horns. Hollis left Detroit shortly after and interest in the record dried up before it was ever released.
