Franciene Thomas

Franciene Thomas was one of the first to walk through Tragar's office doors with stars in her eyes and books under her arm. Just 18, a college student, and completely inexperienced as a performer, she wasn’t Jones’ ideal pick for the third release on his tender-footed label. Last seen working at a carwash, Thomas’ only recordings—the funky dancer “I’ll Be There” and the melancholy “Too Beautiful To Be Good”—had loads of promise but were hindered by a young vocalist too intimidated by performance to have a shot at breaking through.
