Doc & Sal

Third Class Seaman Richard "Doc" Davilla and Salvatore "Sal" Sabino began harmonizing together aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga while afloat on the Mediterranean. Davilla's onboard radio personality Doctor Soul got cut down to just Doc and given top duo billing; the far more anonymous and Queens-born Sabino would stick with his running boyhood handle. While Doc & Sal never performed in public, they could be heard in the officer's bathroom from time to time, using the ceramic tiled walls as a crude reverb chamber.
